Monday afternoon dander

My Seven Sevens training has went by the wayside for more than 4 weeks due to work and other commitments so I ditched work at lunch time on Monday and headed for the hills. The forecast was dry but cloudy, not the best for taking photos but sure carrying the camera is bound to be good training!
I got left home by 2pm and was leaving the carpark on the Trassey Road shortly after 3 with my 2 dogs, Jess and Izzy for company. I headed for Hares Gap but took left half way up the track following a route I had never been on before that would bring me to the wall on Slievenaglogh

I was interested to come across a pile of cut stone that must have been cut for building the wall but weren’t used. Not easy to shift from here up to the wall.

I followed the path on up and came to the stile on the wall on Slievenaglogh, over the stile and followed the wall from here to the tower on Comedagh. On the way there was some great views over Ben Crom Reservoir and the surrounding mountains.

Izzy was slightly distracted by the sheep at the summit of Comedagh.

From the summit of Comedagh I dropped straight down towards Slieve Beg crossing the Brandy Pad and followed the path over Beg, around the right of the summit of Cove and on to the summit of Slieve Lamagan.

I have never liked Slieve Lamagan but thereis good views back towards Slieve Donard and Slieve Comedagh

If my legs had been feeling ok, Binnian summit would have been next up but they hadnt been feeling great all day, sore muscles and tired. I dont think I had been drinking enough all day and was suffering for it now. Binnain was skipped and I headed straight down to Ben Crom dam and followed to path along the edge of the reservoir to the top end where the 2 rivers run into it. I’m always a sucker for a waterfall, no matter how small

I then followed the valley up to Hares Gap and the track back to the carpark, my sportstracker app on my phone showing 11.5 miles. No idea how accurate this is. It was a good afternoon out and it was nice being out there whilst knowing I shoud really be at work! I need to get 2 more walks like this in before the seven sevens in little more than a months time.
