I'm in!

Hi Phil, il got a couple of pieces of mesh cut again so il bring those along for the grills.

Fofanny is a great wee spot, as Jonno says, we camped there when doing the mourne way, that night i think it whizzed it down and the trees gave a good bit of shelter.

Have a look at this thread to see the campsite.

One thing to note is that if you park at Meelmore Lodge you will have a river crossing to make.  See the photos on Rumblebum's link to see what it may look like after a rainy day.  There is another smaller crossing which is further back along the Ulster Way.

Important Update 3
Now that Rumblebum's jogged my memory, I remember where  the spot is. At the south end of the reservoir just at the edge of the forest is a nice big flat spot. As you come up the road from the Ott Car Park there's a style where you can follow the Mourne Way right to the camp. From the road down the hill is probably fairly wet, it was the last time, you can also cut through the forest but it's tight enough.

What time is everyone intending to come at? I'll probably aim to be there somewhere between lunch and mid-afternoon.

I'm ok with the new location guys. I'm actually going up for a night tonight with my boy. So I may or may not stay a second night, but wouldn't miss out on my spot in the trough. Hopefully get a bit of a woodpile going too. I will look for a good spot in the trees for the firepit, if there isn't one already

Watch out for storm Desmond, already blowing had here in Tyrone and lots of rain expected after dark tonight. Fair play to you though!

Based on the map above and the current wind direction forecast (from the SW) it looks like that camp spot should be sheltered (to an extent) by the trees so long as the wind does not shift round and become a direct southerly.

I'll be dropping in to say hi but won't be staying. I've been dosed with a cold all week and I'm only just starting to get shot of it.

I'll be up sat night about 9 or so, word of caution re fofanny, the approaches down to it are boggy in wet weather, especially down from the stile on the slievenaman road, if approaching from the dam end try and stay beside the reservoir as long as possible as its a drier path.

Can you walk the forest side of the reservoir from the dam end or do you have to follow the Mourne Way?
