I didn't realise their would be mountain climbing involved, and as I've never done it, I think I'd have to opt for the easy route for now....

Yeah agree we need to get this sorted what about the training day does Sunday the 21st suit? We could either head to the Mournes or just go to a climbing wall. What do you s think?

We'll need to get it booked and payed as soon as, Not trying to be harsh but the longer we let people sit around the yes camp but not actually in it the more confusing it gets as regard to transport. will we need a third car now?

Probably best if you guys sort yourselves rather than holding off. Sooner you book it the cheaper it will be. I might start a second thread linked to this one for the tourist route so we don't confuse the issue.

To be honest mate i'm not really sure of what a grade one scramble equals to but i know you don't need a rope.(unless its winter) I think ???

A grade one scramble is classed as some steps may be hard, route finding will be easy and you may have to use your hands. lol sounds like every walk! Try the devils coach road on beg Andy, stick to the left hand side and you'll be fine.

I don't even know if the Arete would be as challenging as the Devils Coach Road?  From what I've read it just has a few rocky steps that might require the use of your hands to get up and over, but its a far cry from climbing.  Also, I think the exposure if minimal, so you aren't going to be falling into an abyss or anything.  And even the parts that require a bit of hand work I think can be avoided if I've heard correct as well.

That said, I haven't done the CMD Arete so couldn't confirm any of that, its just what I've read in guide books and online.  I'm dying to do the Arete as well because I did the Mountain Track/Tourist Path last year but felt it was a bit... overpopulated and uninspiring!  In complete contrast the CMD Arete is meant to be like a mini Alpine adventure.  But I can't see me being able to go in May so might have to wait until Summer at the earliest :(

The Devils coachroad is class the only problem is its not long enough. Once you get to the top you'll want to go back down and do it again 8)

I'm going to start another thread for the tourist trail so there's no confusion. It's here:
