Sat morning/afternoon are lookin good lads.

Sat night/ sun morning look like perfect conditions ofor a summit camp.......Clear skies all night long. But this will mean a drop in temp.

Windspeed looks like a calm night

And pretty mild too
;D ;D ;D ;D

If the weather holds out this is looking very good  ;D

I'll try and keep an eye out .

although looks like rain for sunday.

Lets start getting organised. Post your kitlist.

My initial is:
Sleeping bag
Self inflating mat (or rollmat depending on weight)
Pro Action Hike Lite Tent
Jetboil
Wayferer ready to eat nosh
FAK
Spoon
Change of clothes
Fleece
Waterproof troos
Headtorch

What size/type of rucksack is everyone bringing? I don't have one just the right size so I'll need a new one.

My kit is still in the planning phase but i usually bring the same stuff

two man tent(split between me & MG1
sleeping bag
kip mat
trangia mini
500ml fuel
spoon
rations/snacks
head torch
hat
micro fleece
thermals for sleeping in(possible)
3ltr water
map/compass/pencil
waterproofs
change of socks
few glow stick
(I might slip the bivvi bag in if its clear i'll sleep under the stars)

Think thats it. I might be able to get it in my 40ltr pack but if not I have a 60ltr pack that should do the trick.

How much water were you planning on taking jonno?

Is there anywhere around Hares Gap / Bernagh to get water?

not really, but you always came across something even just to use as cooking water and save you supply.
If were really stuck I always have some puri tabs.

if we are heading off on Sunday to have a look for the plane wreck there should be some flowing on the brandy pad to stock up again. But I think 3ltrs should be plenty. A good way to save on water consumption is to pack a small empty bottle to recycle cooking water.

I'm not sure about camping on the top of Bernagh - I'm not confident on my level of fitness to make it that far carrying full gear for an overnight and I'm having some worrying knee pain just from doing the likes of Cave Hill. Bearing in mind I've only even been in the Mournes about 5 times in the last 20 years I don't want to push it too hard too soon  :D

I'm game to camp at Hares Gap and walk up Bernagh or just come for the day and do Bernagh but I think I'd rather be cautious at this point. That said, we don't all have to do the same thing!
