new kid on the block.
« on: October 26, 2013 »

Some blurb about me, where to start.
I live with 3 princesses in my Islandmagee castle.
These girls scream at spiders, woe is me!
Anyway 20 years away from all things alfresco and I was determined to return. I had been in the scouts man and boy and missed the outdoor life.
June this year I get to climb Doan from ott. Then kept things going with Donard and all the main peaks. Interspersing these climbs with cycling all over Co Down. Now this is hard to believe but I started getting up at 5am and went running. June and my First run 1 mile, my last run at end of August 8 miles. Slieve Donard from carpark to carpark 1hr 52mins. Sorry for the detail but I can see my fiftieth birthday through the eye of a needle, ok midlife crisis.
In September my work routine changed and I lost my mojo. I did nothing outdoors.
I am hoping that joining other like minded outdoor peeps will help me find my lost mojo.

Regards
Mageezer.

Hi NKOTD, welcome to NI Wild.  Too little exercise and too many visits to the Rinkha would be a bad combination ;)

Welcome
It's a good thing that you've decided to get out more, even asides all the health benefits, it's great for the head just to get out in the hills.

There's people of all levels of ability here, from slow plodders with a pack full of burgers like myself, to nutters like TwentyClicks who run for 60 miles on half a banana and a jelly bean.

Keep us updated on how you get on

I am really looking forward to getting onto the hills with some of you. I have broken 2 of my regular walking mates and was taking on some  of the more popular routes alone but over the winter that ain't going to happen. so was hoping to tag along with folk as they strike out either long or short hauls. Although at the moment I have a busted back sciatica down the left leg but once over that I'm good to go.
