Christmas Gift Ideas
« on: November 22, 2012 »

I'm being asked what I could possibly want for Christmas this year. I was thinking about a big Rambo style hunting knife but then I caught myself on and thought: "when would I actually ever use that?"....  ??? If you guys could get one good quality bit of kit for Chrimbo what would you get?

I'm in the same boat. Thinking of a multifuel stove since they're way out of my usual price range.

I had wanted an OMM Classic 25L rucksack and had been promised one after volunteering for an outdoor event earlier this year.  Instead they sent me an adventure 25L rucksack.  I've asked them to consider an exchange.  If not I'll probably just send it back and buy the Classic 25L one myself.

A pair of trekking poles that don't bend and break easy.  I'm wondering if the more expensive one's would be more resilient or would they just give way just the same as the budget ones?

Other items to be added!

I know what you mean about the treking poles. I bought some black diamond ones and never looked back.

I'd be pretty happy with this Biolite camping stove:

Oh... Go for the knife, go for the knife.

I bought a US Navy Seals Cold Steel Search and Rescue Knife (Cold Steel SRK) and it is so so awesome. It's not one of those crazy Rambo knives with seratted edges and hollow handles but it is the sharpest most practical knife you will ever own.

I can't post a pic because I'm on my Girlfriends phone but a quick Google will bring it up.

Fully tested and issued by the US Navy Seals and still issued and sworn by.

Buy direct from the US for about £70 in total and if you want to see one in real life let me know and I'll let you try before you buy!
