Can everyone put there walking boots in here to give me ideas, as that what i'm saving up for in the new year.

I use Meindl Burma Pro leather boots, love them, but what will you be using them for? mine are only used in the hills when i think i'll be going off track, i wouldn't wear them for road walking, way to hard, so not an everyday boot, the salomon quest would be much better in that department.

oooopppss missed that Topic, i would be useing them for everyday life, hills, everything to be honest. Even walking to the shop ;-)

Great info as always, spending over £200 on boots to wear down would crack me up. I have Hoglofs walking shoes i wear for everyday life i also took them round the Moyle way, they have also done the old path at the cause way many times. They have been though alot and are still in good order !!

My 2 best buys have been Brasher Hillwalker GTX and Scarpa ZG65 XCR.

I prefer a full leather boot. I think they last better and are more waterproof, I always felt the Scarpas were quick to feel damp. Also both pairs developed faults. The Brashers have a slight gap between the boot and the sole (would probably be fine if I bothered to fix it) and the Scarpas developed a fatal tear (same happened to Billy Backpacks).

Once thing worth mentioning is that different manufacturers develope boots suitable for different types of feet so a visit to a shop for some advice and a run around is always sensible.

Meindl suit a wide foot, although i have a narrow foot and still like them. I also wear Meindl Maine approach shoes as my normal daily footwear, on my 4th pair and i get just over a year from each before the sole wears through.

My Meindl Burma Pros never feel damp, even when they are damp! they are very well padded at the ankle and it seems to soak the dampness away (after walking through rivers and the like i get some seepage in the top), or maybe i'm just walking so fast they heat up and it turns to steam

but unfortunately they dont stock my size and cant order irregular sizes

Why not go to Cotwolds and try as many as necessary before you make your decision, what may suit one person may not suit you

Im going to go with Hoglofs boots as i've had amazing times in there shoes and they have never let me down.

i wear altbergs with no issues whatsoever. come in different width fittings

what attracted to them was the amount of police that wear them as an everyday boot, thought they HAD to be comfortable/quality. mine are possibly half a size too big, but dont want to spend the money buying a second pair to see. i think mine are the peacekeeper1, think some places describe these as a special forces boot, cant confirm that is true though, could be sales talk. theyve NEVER let in water, although i do polish them everytime i go out tbh.
