edit - I made a joke there with a regular turn of phrase relating to firelogs and drunkeness, but on inspecting the official definition it may be deemed offensive in this context

Sounds like fun for the young scouts who took part. Brave to rely on a firesteel to kindling on a summit...wonder if they had a tent set up for shelter to get the thing going? Plenty of squals about these days!

It's amazing how much stuff goes on in Northern Ireland that absolutely no-one knows about. I'd definitely have wanted to go up to see and be a part of this.  ???

Yeah your right there.  Its a pretty unique event that I'm sure a lot of people would have loved to have witnessed.

Instead you have the news reporting on the latest eyesore at the giants causeway a so called area of outstanding NATURAL beauty.  They seem to be doing everything they can to take away the natural part of it.

yeah totally agree, the tarmac road 200 yards down to the causeway is a f**king joke.

I took issue mostly with the massive visitors centre straddling the main entrance, as though to give the impression that you *must* pay to visit the causeway when this is not the case. Both tourists and locals have openly expressed resentment at this.

While I believe in conservation effort rather than leaving everything to rot - I'm not a huge fan of building big commercial exploitation around our natural beauty, then charging by the fistful to appreciate it.

I know nothing of their other work though

Even the "cottage" type look would have worked

If you're ever in order the chicken carbonara and champ - it's a treat, whether you're hungry post-walk or not.

There is a load of flags (no not the usual NI/IRELAND types) all over the landscape up there for the the busiest few months of the year. Some art installation. Yes it's going to be removed but what about the visitors that go to see it to take that memory away. Look it up on BBC iplayer or NI news I you haven't seen it.

The artist dubbed it as a "conversation with the mountain"

Its a bunch of flags sticking out everywhere

It may have a place and art types may find it wonderful but an area on the unesco world heritage status isnt the place it should be.

The comments from the people interviewed said it all really.
