I'm probably barking up the wrong tree, however I feel that Ni Wild are worthy of this status, and all members should be able to have the discount from Cotswold outdoors...

Anyone agree?

whats your thoughts?

But then who pays for the ni-wild card that proves membership to get the discount or would there just be a code for members, for me it's just as easy to use my Mountainering Ireland card which gets 15 percent off or the loyalty Cotswold card that get 10 percent discount

How much would that card cost? Maybe if we all chipped in?

I'm not sure how the code would work. hmm.

good points though!

A lot of members of this forum are able to get discounts through being members of walking clubs, walking governing associations like Ulster Federation of Rambling Clubs (UFRC) and Mountaineering Ireland (MI), I am sure there are similar organisations in other outdoor activities that these outdoor outlets offer similar discounts. NI-Wild is only a forum. We would have to have a membership structure with membership cards etc. Good idea though.

We did actually approach Cotswolds and fill out the forms for group discount but then never heard anything back.

Hanks admin! Hmm if it's okay maybe I could mention it to them again/ email?I think it would be great for the members that lack the time and money to be a member of something mentioned in previous posts on this thread. Just my two cents :)

The explore more card that you get in Cotswold, I though you got 15% off, you can pick them up in the store and there's no mad paper work to fill in. Also with every purchase you get entered into a monthly draw for £100 to spend in their store. They won't give Lucky Liam one though as its very bad for business. :)

Excuse me for my cluelessness :P however, I was under the impression that the explore more card was 10% off of JUST your first purchase?

Thanks

We also applied for discount off Cotswolds but again heard nothing back from them. Other online forums have been getting discount from online and high street stores for quite a while, they have member areas where only paid members can gain access and they are given a code to mention when making purchases. Maybe we should be looking to our own home grown outdoor shops like Lindsey's in coleraine or Jackson sports etc for discounts first? We canvassed all the outdoor shops in Belfast to ask if they would put up
flyers for us, the only real success was Jackson sports and surf mountain. Millets and blacks turned us down point blank. Cotswolds said they would but didn't and tiso said they could only put it in their staff room. we were offering in return advertising for them on our website. Sorry to hijack your thread Lisa but I think these chain stores should pay a bit more attention to what's happening and even contacting the admin to suggest things like member discount like they have in England. After all this is the biggest and most well known outdoor forum in Ireland!
