« on: April 01, 2012 »

Ive been looking at the Alpkit bivi bags and have read many great reviews on them, has anyone here got one, i was thinking of the hunka XL or would the smaller hunka be good enough?

I have one and would throughly recommend it, there's loads of room in the normal bag without getting the XL.

Its not the one your thinking about getting but what about the trekmates?

Buy the hunka XL, more room to get your kit in if it pours and you can get a sleeping mat in too. No brainer in my opinion.

I'm going to be listing a few bits of kit for sale in the classifieds soon (don't worry, not packing it in, just some 'gear consolidation'!).  One of the items I will have for sale is the Rab Storm bivi.  Very similar to the Hunka XL and a great bivi bag.  It's not had a great deal of use, but it kept me dry sleeping out on a rainy Binnian summit!  If you're interested drop me a wee PM :)

Hi,

Bought the Alpkit Hunka XL late last year and can thoroughly recommend it.
For the extra £10 or so, you've got enough room in it to store bag/shoes etc.

Don't have much experience of any other types though, so I'm sure there'll be others out there who have tried more than one brand, and could advise better
