Mourneman's march
« on: February 25, 2012 »

On the hills yesterday with Craigy123 & mountain, parked craigy's car in Donard carpark & drove on round to Carricklittle. No set route as such but our idea was to summit Binnian & venture into Percy caves,we also toyedwith the idea of carrying on over Lamagan,Cove,Beg,Commedagh & down into Nwcastle

march 2 by shannaghan, on Flickr
Arrived at Carricklittle around 10.30 am & set off on a slow steady pace, usually I'am always slow to start, but after an hour or so my pace kicks in &I've no problems keeping up with anybody, not today!Half way up Binnian i was struggling badly,I'd nothing else to give & I've never experienced anything like that before & could not understand what was happening to me.Must say craigy123 was some crac & we had many interting conversaions, finally reached the summit,'thank god'.Climbed onto the summit torr & gotsome nice photos, time for tea & sandwich before making our way down via the north torr

We then wisely decided to bypass the Lamagan climb by exploring Percy caves.
Craigy123 ,what a legend! Hary & myself could not get our chest, bellys over the first ridge & into the second chamber,craigy123 seemed to pop his rip cage & wriggled into the second chamber, then into the third, after which he came back via an upper chamer

more on part two

Feeling much better now i carried on finally reaching the Brandy pad,as i crossed over the Saddle i caught a glimpse of the guys at the forest line.Must say i found it very hard going all day,but i enjoyed it,the hightlight had to be watching Mountain goat struggle to keep up with craigy ;),think he should change his name to bear, mans no fear at all

Hate to break it to you, there's a horrible lingering bug going round at the minute, the symptoms are many and varied (mainly mild cold like symptoms or vomiting), but the one constant is absolute exhaustion. Apparently it lasts about 4 weeks :( I feel your pain and annoyance as I have it at the minute. I'm very impressed you finished the route. Hope you feel better soon :)

Wow... awesome pics..... that's some day out  :D ... hope it's not the bug Samm mentioned. I know some cyclists refer to a thing known as "the bonk" it's fatigue resulting from muscle glycogen depletion and can happen over time: not just in an endurance event. The First instinct is to panic making the fatigue worse. It happens occasionally to a load of people. Wouldn't worry too much  :)

Sweet! can't wait till Wed!  ;D New boots arrived there too. I find a bottle or two of Lucozade Sport (or any sport drink) an hour or so before hitting anything helps no end. Maybe it's placebo... whatever it is it does the trick! ... See you Wed!  :)

Great picture Mourneman. I am suffering the same. I can't seem to do a simple walk. I was out last Monday in Kilbronney High Car Park and we did a wee walk and I was tired. All we did was Slieve Martin frothe tge right had side and over to Cloughmore and down to the car park.
