Hi folks,

After a few laborious trips out with the kelly kettle ive decided I need a gas stove (and preferably something to cook on with it.

I've seen sets with the wraparound handles where the lid doubles as a frying pan - they look handy - and was thinking of getting one where I could fit the gas and burner all inside it as space is at something of a premium for me and my tiny daysack.

The gas stove is awesome, I recommend them all the time. The pots are also great but I'd suggest an alternative - buy the gas stove and a Trangia Mini. The Trangia is actually cheaper than the pots you linked and comes with a non-stick pan and pot lifter plus burner. Just leave the burner at home and for your money spent you can always go meths if you want. The pot is possibly slightly smaller than the Primus set but it's always been big enough for me. The Trangia pot/pan/lifter is also still lovely and light (being aluminium) and your Vango burner will fit inside however, the one drawback is the gas canister wont.

Red Leader's suggestion is a great one and one I know works well for him. The whole pan / pot and stove combo is a difficult one considering your space and undoubtedly weight requirement and I suppose it comes down to cost vs function.

I fancy the look of this wee Optimus set, similar pots to those you are after, but with a jetboil style heat exchange system. It even has a neoprene sleeve for the gas canister and burner to prevent scratching the pot in transit.

any links for buying that? i could do with a new setup, i have an open top pan with no lid and my sandwiches keep falling out in my rucksack

This looks like it could do the job. I did see a YouTube video of a guy comparing it with a jetboil and he warped the vanes on the optimus pans, but I don't think he had put water or anything in the pan, so I'm not surprised he wrecked it.

I have this set and it's really good. It's compact and easy to clean plus there's enough room inside the pot for gas, stove, sponge, lighter and a wind shield. The only problem i have with it is the gas keeps backing of so i have to keep turning it up all the time. Think i'll be heading to the camp on saturday so i'll bring it with me.

those pans look the business although a bit on the heavy side but then again i don't need them all, i have the trekmates version of that wee vango stove, cheers for the links
