Just depends on how long your going for and what type of cooking equipment your taking on the trip?

Good steak, throw in some mushrooms and veg in the same pan.. The world is your oyster  :) pastas are always easy too carry, simple too make and a good energy source. Would also take food already prepared so its just a matter of heating

I quite enjoy the actual the actual cooking bit up in the hills.

steak is a classic, nothing tastes better than a glass of wine and a steak in the outdoors.

If you're not restricted or concerned by the weight or bulk then your menu can be as wide as your imagination and culinary skills.

For simplicity I really enjoy a curry with boiled rice.  Really tasty, warming and filling. Another fave is the canned Big Breakfast/Full Monty consisting of baked beans, sausages and burger pieces.  Maybe not the healthiest but simple to heat.

There was another thread a while ago on this subject.  No harm with another one but if you search the forum you might get some fresh ideas.

Tinned fruit salad for afters

for a trangia eh?

try two chopped potatoes, one large chopped onion, two chopped carrots and half a pound of mince steak.

fill the large pot with water and add the potatoes and carrots and boil untill soft, then add the chopped onion and the mince and simmer till it all becomes a nice thick stew, add some brown sauce to taste and enjoy.

you may have to refill the meths burner but its a great meal on a cold night and suits a trangia perfectly, none of the ultra fast boiling and packets of dried noodles but rather a relaxed joy of cooking in the outdoors for which the trangia is designed.

* We eat a lot of steaks these days - decent rib eye, smash potatoes and pepper sauce (pouches from Tesco). We've swapped the steak for Haggis in the past and it's been awesome.
* Bacon or sausage baps (bread is hard to transport)
* Super Noodles and Frankfurters (kids favorite)
* Scrambled egg (break the eggs into a Nalgene container with some milk and your choice of extras, by the time you've hiked anywhere it's well whisked :)
* For breakfast I quite like the RTE deserts, sweet and packed with energy, great way to start the day
