Micro-hill fog navigation
« on: November 13, 2011 »

Took advantage of the heavy hill fog in the western Mourne's today and were planning some micro-navigation in heavy hill fog, well that was the plan anyway ,that all changed when we realised we left our Os 125 back in the boot of the car at Letrim lodge,Anyway we carried on up the Letrim lodge trek turning off at Pierces Castle before heading off again towards Windy gap.We then went over Wee slievemoughan and Tornamrock before heading back to the jeep,Out with first time hill-walker Andrew so we kept it short.Nice few hours out on a Sunday.

Think i spotted some NI-WILD members on Letrim lodge trek, sure i know that Terrier

Saw your photos on Facebook. I was out today with the Wee Binnians and had to lead the C group today because the original leader was sick. It was a navigational exercise today. It is always good to challenge yourself in misty weather. We started in Meelmore Lodge and went up Meelmore, the steep way. You will see photos on Facebook.

Sounds like a great day out. The Leitrim Lodge side of the Mournes is somewhere I've rarely been. Must try and get out there a bit more.
