New Lad
« on: September 13, 2011 »

Hi there

good site, good idea. Belfast based mid40's (aahh) hoping to get a bit more walking and spot of camping done. Born in the shadow of cavehill (well near by) and still would stretch my legs there on a Sunday morning. Hill-walking on/off from my twenties mostly in Peak District with occasional excursions to Lake D and Scotland. Did 4 peaks a few years ago and really enoyed it but things died off again after that but had a few recent jaunts back in the Mournes and hoping to keep the momentum going. Also seems to coincide when read a good mountaineering book or Antartic trek (most recent No Way Down K2)

cheers

Good evening and welcome to NI Wild.  Glad to see another youngster ;D joining the ranks of the "get out plodding again."

Amongst loads of useful advice and guidance you'll get plenty of encouragement to get out on the hills more. :)

Hope you enjoy the trip.

Greetings. I "was" the Lake D with the occasional trip to the White Peaks !!! Just started "doing" the Mournes last Aug. Now based in N. Tyrone after 38yrs in Rochdale. I think Borrowdale (Keswick) is calling me this Autumn. Vinny.

I think all you old folk take to the hills so you dont have to look in the mirror in the morning and see your progressive bald spot.

O the folly of youth! Just wait, it wont be long and you will be looking in the mirror at your own receding hairline ;)

By that time, I'll be pushing you all in your wheelchairs up Donard.  :D
