Thanks for the write up and photos.  Looked abrilliant outing, especially your description of the night sky views.

I haven't done a summit camp yet and after the ravaging by midges at Ben Crom/Shelter Stone I just think that my next outing will have to be higher up.  All I need to do is to get a suitable free date as soon as holidays are over.  Might even be able to team up with some others. :-\

some of my pics

On one of the saddles i met Kevin and Tommy from Tipperary who were on a mission to bag all the 600s in ireland, they were glad they met me as their map had Ben Crom at 704m !! i was able to put them straight with my map and saved them a walk the next day  :)

i spot a few stragglers in the distance so i put my red headlight on and walk towards them so they know where the right path was, unfortunately i left my rucksack down and on the way back i couldn't find it  :o  after a search party was sent out it was soon found, next time i'll make sure it has something reflective on the outside (just ordered reflective paracord from ebay  ;) )

can just make out Doan in the distance

Matt reaches the summit

all ready for my first night in the bivvy bag

having fun with a long exposure

dawn from the bivvy bag

it was only 4.45am so hit the snooze button for a little extra beauty sleep

about 7am and the voices wake me up

it was only them scoundrels

about 8am now and the rest of the rabble awaken

a queue forms for the stove

we do a spot of geocaching on the summit

good view of Lough Shannagh

making our way home again

passing fofanny dam

stile near the happy valley car park

then off to June's for a lovely bacon, egg and sausage soda  ;D
