Hello all and im still alive. I wold like you all to take a look at these knives *The S4 Survival series knife *Classic Raven *Compact Raven * All info and comments would help me alot as i cant decide on what model to pick.

If it were any other forum it would be just a little bit scary for a poster to log on to say "sorry I haven't been about much, I've been busy thinking about knives!"

Good to know you're still around, I keep expecting to log on and see something about you off on some epic long distance journey.

A long journey is something i dream about, the coast of ireland i still this of all the time. So whats happening with everyone and the lack of comments on this subject

Im sorry mate i cant pick any of them. Its the handle shape it wouldnt be great for long term use i can see lots of blisters and sores! If it floats your boat then any of them except the serrated edged s4. I recently had a play with a rat rc4 rowan knife that i was sharpening for cerbera147. I initially thought it was another daft american survival knife but it has a carbon steel blade and i had it shaving the hairs off my arms in no time. It also holds a nice edge and is great for making feather sticks. Changes i would make to it if i owned it would be remove the powder coating and change the handle scales. Just my thoughts mate. I also had a play with a bayley bear Grylls knife and its very plasticy feel to it i wasnt impressed though i have also played with a couple of different woodlores and they arent up to much either not for the price tag.

Thank you very much for the info grey fox, i googled rat knife and had a real good study. It looks great and also take a lot of abused.

May i ask cerbera147 where he got it and how much for ?

Wolf, i hate to burst your bubble mate but i was on a course with Rob Bayley last weekend and i asked him about the knives you are after. He is booked solid for the next 8 years and is not taking anymore orders for knives until then.

Ive been on the waiting list already for 1 year 8 mouths. When i order the knife there was only a 2 year waiting list, but i dont want to spend £400 on a knife that is not that good.

I saw one of the first bayley knives at the weekend it is a good knife it's not my cup of tea but is very well made. As I said before its whatever floats your boat. Rob is a real gentleman and if you do decide to go for one of his you can be assured it will be a hand crafted work of art and certainly not something that is hammered out in an hour or 2 like some of the makers out there.

It was really blunt when I got it and GF did an amazing job with it.

I bought it from a guy in the US for approximately £46. [They're about £130 new here

]The seller sent it to a friend of mine in the US who then moved it on to me

TBH if you see any of my gear most of it comes via that route i.e. the US.

BTW they've actually got an ESEE 4 [same as mine] due out in Stainless Steel

I think if I paid upwards of £400 I'm not sure I could bring myself to abuse it $:-\$ Although at the same time that's what they're made for.
My Mora 2000 has seen more action since I met Greyfox than than the previous 10 months

I'm sure my RC-4 will be the same
