Red Arrow in August?
« on: May 15, 2011 »

Hello all.

Me and my girlfriend are camping at Bloody Bridge campsite the weekend of the Red Arrows flying over.

Would anyone be interested and meeting up for a bit of craic? Maybe even watch the planes from the side of a mountain?

Dates are 4th, 5th and 6th of August.

Last year we camped in Meelmore Lodge and went to the top of Commedagh to watch them. It was a pretty splendid trip. I'd defo be up for something like that again.

That would suit well, we're not overly fit ourselves. Just enjoy the outdoors.

What mountian would you guys suggest?

We did Commedagh because we thought it would be less busy than Donard (which it was) but it's still the second highest peak and a decent climb.

Define "Decent"  :D

I'm not looking a four day ascent or anyhting, just something that is reasonable.

Don't want to have to listen to my girlfriend complain the whole day. ( Don't tell her I siad that )  :P

It's 765m which is only 85m less than Donard  ::)

We watched them from the top of Donard last year, class views! On the last pass one appeared out of nowhere, flew low over Donard and scared the shite clean out of me  :D was great!
