Well that's day 1 done, phew, 15km, 1100m of ascent (although it felt a lot more) we did it in 6.5 hrs. Tent up and the spaghetti is on.

Started from Attical at 1030am, did shanlieve, pigeon rock, eagle, muck (that was steep!) Carn, and now we are camping at spelga dam right beside the magic road, would be magic if someone delivered some beer and a chinese  ;D

Just below the dam, not exactly a campsite, more of a soggy field! MG1 and billy backpack are just setting up tent now after a hard day in c class, 8.5hrs, currently in 72nd place. C class was a lot. Worse than our d class.

Lol. Even though this is a very comfy sofa and very decent red, I'm still jealous. Well not of the lycra...

Well done. :)

Anyone taking part in the MMM has to be at least medium rare to begin with  ;)

Good going Liam & Son!

and those people doing the elite class are superhuman  :o  B class people aren't far behind them either

so here's the pics

DAY 1

we see the eventual elite winners (by a mere 5 seconds) Deon McNeilly & Eamon McCrickard at the start line, their packs are a little lighter than mine  ::)

also spot MG1 and Billy Backpack doing class C

not long before we see them again and get a friendly wave

I get a bit confused (easily done)

the rain heaves it down on slieve muck

checkpoint charlie

the campsite at spelga

Gareth and Andy back after a very tiring day

the B class route for day 1, tough going

very wet boots off

letting the feet dry, ahhhhhhhhh

a lot of people with plastic bags for socks

i spot a nice mushroom at the campsite, not adding it to my spaghetti though

the campsite at night, not much talking after 9pm, most people were asleep by then

DAY 2

the morning toilet queue  ;D

cooking spaghetti for breakfast

so much for class d being easy trails! well this was part of the mourne way

a tricky river crossing

yes i know there was a footbridge but my feet were so hot they needed cooling down  :)

and why did we do it all, for free soup & sandwiches   ;D

and a t-shirt of course  ;)

Well done Liam. Looks like a great weekend. How come camping  was at Spelga? I've never seen anyone pitched there before.

Nice one. That pair of Villains look like they're having a light stroll  :)

Also good to see the Coleman tent I've had for years being represented in the toilet queue photo... Clearly comfort competitors though - not a Lidl special to be seen  :D
