Well weird
« on: May 01, 2011 »

Just finished reading trail and it has a bit on weird stories and I thought I would add mine does anyone have one themselves like the weirdo at the iplod  ;D

I was walking a costal path around Melmore head in Donegal a few years ago it had been a brilliant sunny day with no wind at all when I decided to lie down and savour the view out to Tory island and top up on my pasty tan , I think I must of nodded of for an hour or so but I awoke to the faint sound of bagpipes rolling in with a thick fog that had engulfed me , I can say honestly that it freaked me out and I sat trying to figure out if my mind had finally packed it's bags and left for home with out me ,
I decided I needed to head for home but I had to follow the the bagpipes as I have walked it many times and have never meet another soul , I knew where I was heading and I knew of an old grave where a sailors body had been washed up and marked by a few rocks and the bagpipes where coming from there ,through the fog I faintly seen a figure standing where the grave was and he was playing the bagpipes , I sat and watched more out of fear than anything as his figure appeared and disappeared while the notes of the pipes echoed around me filling my ears more of shrieks than notes , I watched as he as his kilt vanished into the fog and the music stopped , I sat freaked out and decided to make a run for it .
I got back to caravan and explained to everyone what I had seen and heard to which the replies I got are a bit blue for the site . I was honestly really freaked and did not sleep much the next couple of nights .
I headed in to the harbour bar in downings  and was talking to the bar man a few years later about my eiry experience when the guy beside me when the guy at the end if bar spat his pint out laughing , it turned out that it was his brother who had fallen overboard on a stormy night and he always pays his respect by going to the marked grave and playing his pipes ,  I still get freaked out by the sound of bagpipes

I'd love to wake-up, along a coastal path, cloaked in fog, with the pipes playing, it makes me think of the old series of sherlock holmes (and what could be better)!
