Divis and Black Mountain
« on: May 17, 2009 »

I braved the bad weather and did the 5 mile circular walk at Black Mountain. It started off wet and windy and only got worse from there. A high mist came down gradually until I could only see 20 or 30 feet and the wind blew it around constantly - it was like being in an episode of Scooby Doo :)

Mist totally obscuring the army base

As I got closer the base started to appear

A standing stone and stile. The stone has graffiti on it which is typical

The path disappears on the return and when it's wet it is incredibly boggy. It's fairly easy to follow the marker posts. This is the part I wish I'd bought better boots ;)

The mist got really thick now but I knew where I was going so it wasn't a problem. Was spooky though.

Cows had wandered onto the path luckily it was after I had passed by. It's hard to see in the photo but one was a bull and I wouldn't have fancied having to sqieeze past ;)

In a strange twist to the afternoon I had to stand and wait while 3 women apparently took photos of each others bottoms. I was pretty tired at this point though - maybe I was halucinating :D

We used to run a gallery system which didn't get used very much so we disabled it because it didn't work with the latest version of the forum software. We'll see if we can resurrect these photos.

Can't see the photo's!
