Moxy (Happycamper87), Kilkeel, Co.Down
« on: December 17, 2010 »

Hey. Just an introduction to me....

I moved to kilkeel august 2009 when my little boy was born. I love getting into the mountains, but usually end up going by myself, coz nobody i know enjoys it like I do. I did 6 months in the army after years in the scouts and love sleeping outside wiv the bugs (NOT MIDGES!!)  ;D but need to learn to sleep with my mouth closed! It was in the army that i realised how much i liked sleeping just under a tarp. I feel the urge to get into the mournes all the time because i can see Binnian from my kitchen window, but don't always have the time because my girlfriend works and I have to be Daddy.

The wife of either the fella who set this forum up or is a member cuts my dads hair and he put me onto it and I love what u guys are getting up to. Im looking for nights in annalong or donard woods and a bit of craic.

Thats me basically
all my mates call me Moxy but happy camper will also suffice lol

Hi Moxy, welcome to the forum!  You'll have no shortage of people to go out in the hills with around here, we are usually up in the Mournes fairly often so hopefully see you soon!

PS: Jealous you can see Binnian from your house!

Welcome moxy.

Most are tenters, but even they have tried tarping over the summer...but there is a clatter of us who only tarp/bivvy. (I'm hearing whispers of someone bivving last night at the top of Bloody Bridge river but I'll let him stand forward in due course)

Perhaps I could use a bit of your local knowledge if you know what these buildings are on the SE side of Binnion.

Hi Happy Camper

That is a view most will be jealous of.  From my house I can see another house...in any direction you look!

I will try and get some pics up before I head away tonight  ;D
Have to say it's a good buzz you get when you poke your head out of bivvi and get a mouth full of snow

Welcome Moxy... Great to have you onboard.  You'll definitely find plenty of company on here for trapping the hills and getting away from the luxuries of home  :D

I've never been in the Army but if your ever out with me it will be like the old days for ya... I swear by the Army Issue equipment and it makes up 80% of my kit.

We're looking at a possible snow shelter/bivvi quite soon so keep an eye out for that.

Welcome Moxy, I've always been a little jealous of the kilkeelians and their view of the mournes, from my house I can see donard if I go to the corner of the garden and stand on my tiptoes, but binnion is so much nicer.

Welcome Moxy,

The view I get from my window is Scrabo tower, which isn't as impressive as Binnion. One day I will own a house near the Mountains of Mourne..

Very, very jealous..
