I do a 4x4 navigation event each year (www.4x4challenge.org) for which i ask people to sponsor me for but i feel rather guilty as the although the event is quite testing (approx 500miles over 2 days) i do enjoy it so much  ;D

so this year i want to do something a bit(lot) more arduous involving walking & camping in the mournes (no i don't intend to do the 7 7s in the land rover  :o ) so i would he happy to ask for moneys  :D

here's my ideas so far

1. walk the 7 7s over 2 days with a camp on a summit
2. camp on 7 summits over 7 nights (although may be hard to get time for this)
3. walk as many of the 35 summits over 1500 feet with a certain time (3 days or 1 week)
4. leave my car in a mourne car park and see how many nights it lasts untouched  ::)

all ideas welcome, the sillier the better, fancy dress a possibility but anyone who wants to come along would also have to dress up  8)

The 77s pushing a Land Rover tire...and resisting the temptation to roll it off the summit of Donard towards Newcastle. ;)

The 7 7s over 2 days is a good one. The Mourne Wall is another to consider, however you might want to do it over 3.

I'd go for the Mourne Wall.  When it comes to asking friends and family for sponsorship then its more likely they will have heard of the Mourne Wall.  Walking the 7 7's probably doesnt sound as big a deal to those who don't know about them... just a thought!

This looks like a good one to watch so now that Liam has decided to camp the Seven Sevens for charity I've split the topic so we can watch his progress.

You can find it here:

Just found out today that i'll be doing the 4x4 charity challenge again this year so its time to think about what wee local event i can do to raise some funds, thoughts so far are

1. mourne wall
2. how many times i can do donard in 24hrs
3. how many separate mourne peaks i can do in 24hrs
4. climb everest in 48 hrs (or at least its equivalent which is about 10 ascents of donard)

whatever it is i would like to do it all in one weekend, any more ideas, sensible or otherwise  ::)

I would go for that one!  Sounds great and should bring in plenty of donations as even non-mountain folk understand what Everest is :)  As far as I know there is actually a Donard V Everest event, think it might have been run by 26 Extreme, although I can't find it on their website now.  If you need a support team (i.e. water station, food station or suchlike) then let me know, I'd love to help out!

PS: If you need a navigator for the 4x4 challenge be sure to let me know... or at least let me know who the existing navigator is so I can slip some laxatives into their drink and open up a vacancy ;D
