What does everyone like to eat when they're out and about both for car type camping and hiking?

I'm between dried foods like pasta'n'sauce and noodles and boil in the bag stuff. The boil in the bag is quick, easy and needs no cleaning of pots but is heavier....

I have to say, I'm not into the whole de-hydrated food thingy. Some things are worth the extra weight and I believe that good food, as with a really good sleeping mat, are worth it. Unless you are a very weight conscious mountain runner then the boost to your morale of a good meal is worth every ounce. However, this does not always mean carrying potatoes, onions, fresh meat with you (though I often do)
Here's a quick and easy way to add flavour to dry pasta.
Take a bag of tesco Farfalline (it cooks in 5 minutes, saving you fuel and it's really cheap)
When cooked, pour off almost all the water that it has been cooked in, but retain a little with the pasta.
Add to this a sachet of minestrone or tomato cup a soup. Mix through. Chop up some Mathesons sausage (which is ready cooked and doesn't need to be refrigerated) and add that as well.
Leave for a couple of minutes and then enjoy.

lots of porridge, oats-so-simple golden syrup flavour is my choice.

really good for you with slow energy release and easy to cook on a trangia.you just need to remember the milk.

yum yum yum.

smash potato and corned beef are good too.

Porridge- double helping made with milk/soyamilk,once cooked add two scoops of vanilla protein powder ,mix well and add milkand honey for taste. This is a seriously heavy duty feed without all the fat of a fry up... condensed or powdered milk can be used as well
