Hi folk's Newbie coming through!
« on: September 20, 2013 »

HI Guy's N Gal's
Just joined this all today, been reading some of the post and find it fantastic to see so many like minded individuals.  Glad to know if the Zombie Apoc comes we have lots of knowledge out there to group together and survive or at least die last!

I've been doing wild camping for about 7-8 years using tents, I'd love to hammock and tarp but haven't talked myself or friends into that yet.  There is a dedicated group of us who go at least once a month to the MOurnes starting at Donard carpark and heading up towards the ice house and the surrounding area.  Me and a mate had been watching Lord of the Rings and we loved the wee camp fire cooking, sleeping in the woods and all that.  That's what the catalyst was for us to go camping and we ain't stopped since.

Glad to be on this and hope to make good use of all the knowledge on here, especially about various spots to try out as we tend to use the same selection of area.  Seen some posts about Spinkwee so that might be my next adventure, if I can only find out how to get there hahah

See you all later and staff safe!

Hi Sean welcome to NI-WILD. I started off on here a bit like yourself, I was looking for some hiking routes and camping spots for me and the wee fella and stumbled across this bunch, a fantastic site full good honest no frills advice on all things outdoor from a great group of folks who are only to helpful and willing to point you in the right direction. Advice on kit, camp spots, routes, and organised camps in abundance.

We've already met a few WILDERS at a couple of camps all friendly helpful folk.  So jump in and enjoy!!!!!

Thanks Glenn.
As I said we normally go to the Donard side of the Mourne's but we are urning for the adventure of a new spot as we've being going to that area for about 7 years and noticed your posts about Spinkwee site so we are maybe going to try and hunt that out or at least in the general area.

We're like big kids at the prospect of a new spot for a change.  Might even see some of you guys about the mountain's on our travels as well.

Hi Shaun, welcome to NI Wild.

If you have a browse you'll pick up a few other great campsites like the Shelter Stone, Annalong Wood and Loughshannagh.  After that the only way is up - summit camps 8)
