Stunning pictures, Errigle is the one place I keep saying over and over I want to do then never get off my hole to do so. Part of it has always been the desire to camp out and do it over a weekend instead of rushing the experience.

Could you either throw me a link to where you got the camp spot info or even some grid refs would be perfect? Also you mentioned the spot you parked was a risk, is this just due to the general risk of theft etc at an open roadside or something else? Is there anywhere safer to park without having to trek the country to the view spots etc?

Think it's about time to check the weather and get a weekend booked.

There was an approximate grid for the car parking spot given ( and the 5.3 miles from the entrance to Glenveagh park is exact, we zeroed the odemeter for that purpose), it is just off the corner of the map, so I cant give exact cords. The car parking spot is just off the main road, so there are the usual issues with just parking your car at the side of the road, however this IS  a very remote area in Donegal (that MIGHT be a good thing, it might not). All the car parks have marks where people diff their cars at night, so I suppose you take your chances, same as the Mournes. On the image below I have marked the camp spot with a green circle. You can see the path that runs down with the black staggered line, HOWEVER I would not recommend taking this route. I sunk in a bog to my waist trying to find the path. That is why we recommended the alternative route down (not on the map)

on this wee video I have followed the route we took from the car parking spot down on google earth, it really is hard to miss(easily spotted from the road due to the amount of
peat digging going on) and you're just following the river from there on, can't be simpler.

Loved your write up guys, we were at lough Altan a couple of years ago and have always said it would be a peach of a spot to have a camp, it's got everything,  awesome surroundings, fresh water, your own private swimming pool.
Well done, looking forward to your next trip report.
