Hen
« on: April 07, 2012 »

Took a wee dander up Hen in the western Mourne's last night with Fisherfelim to replace one of my geocache's.Arrived at Sanddown carpark around 8pm .god must have heard us complaining about the rain because soon as we stepped out of the car the rain suddently stopped  ???.For anyone thats never climbed Hen before it looks very small on the approaching road, but once on it summit torr you'll respect it a wee bit more, the summit itself it split into two & can be reached within ten minutes of reaching the crest of the first torr.As we got to the top i put the Hen geocache in place, fired up the stove & had some hot coffee & bovril.nice way to spent the evening.

I would love to go into the mournes at night but wouldn't have the confidence in my navigation skills, I probably end having to get airlifted!!

Hen was the first mountain i ever walked up. It's a nice wee spot. Broke my old camera tripod while going down down that granite "slide", which wasn't so nice 'tho.  :(
