Is that your version of the bat cave? Every outdoors person has one  :)

my gear is either in the caravan, the attic or in the car boot, its now very difficult to get into the caravan  :o  the boot is worse!  the only thing thats gets into the house is my down sleeping bag  :)

saw this front porch recently, that's the way a house should be  :)

Why not get a few lengths of wood, drill and secure them onto the back, and sides of what looks like a cupboard, then place some long & flat pieces of wood on top, and the repeat for more levels/space?  Couldn't cost more than around £30 from B&Q if you have the power tools handy.

Here's where I store 99% of my gear (in my cupboard  ;D), and I'm quickly running out of space.  Think the two pine planks were about £15 in total.

Also, how do you get your compass to stay in position like that?  I'm fed up of putting mine through the chest strap only to find out that it slips out 30 seconds later.

The only downside to going outdoors is having to come back inside.

just checked the car boot, it contains:

3 rucksacks (2 fully packed and ready to go on a winter hike)
2 pairs boots
3 pairs trainers
2 stools (the ones you sit on!!)
1 camera tripod
1 ice axe
10 bottles of water (various coloured caps for each member of the family, saves a fortune on long drives on hot days)
various tow ropes, toolkit, snow shovel, towel, couple of jumpers, an extra coat, loads of other stuff but couldn't be bothered pulling any more out  ;D

the only thing i'd want to add is a fold up bike  :)

and i really need to sort out the caravan  :o

you know what kids are like, they wouldn't dare share a bottle of water with someone in case they get their "slabbers", but if it was a tin of coke, they'd down it floaties and all  ;D

p.s. 10 bottles as i often have nices and nephews as well, as you can imagine it costs a fortune to get them all a wee drink on the way home from a walk, i even keep a few "mountain bars" in the car in case they get peckish, sorry kids, no mcdonalds today  :P
