Im on the same boat, glad to have you here.

By the look of you, I reckon you're circling the boat looking for a weak spot!

Hi Chink, welcome to the forum.

The route you proposed could certainly be a go-er.  You could leave Donard Pk as you say, heading up over the Saddle then make for Slieve Beg and peer over the edge into the Devil's Coachroad.  You could then climb Cove Mountain and Lamagan, dropping down to the col with Binnian, from there you can take the descent down to Ben Crom Reservoir at the dam.  From there you can follow the South eastern side of the Ben Crom Reservoir (basically down below the peaks you walked across earlier.  You could camp at the Shelter Stone that is marked at the North East end of the reservoir (search for the shelter stone on this forum for maps and pics).  The next day you can follow a trail up to the Brandy Pad and back round to the Saddle.

That said, it would be a fair day's walking with an overnight pack, so you'd need a good long day and strong knees!  As an alternative, after having a juke round the Devil's Coachroad (and perhaps even having a wee walk along the cliff edges on Cove Mountain), you could reverse this back to the Brandy Pad and drop straight down to the Shelter Stone.  I'd imagine Cove and Beg would be very steep to drop straight off down to the Shelter Stone, not impossible though!

It looks wet for Saturday, bring yer wet gear!!

Hi Chink, yeah the shelter stone is a great spot for an overnighter, if its gowing to be rough weather this weekend you defo dont want to be stuck on a summit somewhere.

Theres rivers right beside the camp so you can top up your drinking or cooking water from these, then if you go for a long dander during the day you can cut down on some of the weight in your rucksack.
