Favourite Holiday spots
« on: February 08, 2012 »

Ireland is a great country to live with the scenary and endless outdoor activities but if you were going abroad on an activity holiday were would it be and why?

1/ Somewhere you have been in the past  (Reason I ask for this is you can give others ideas from a holiday makers point of view)

2/ A dream destination thats on your wish list (Regardless of you ever really going here or not)

Suppose I should give mine.

1/ Machu Picchu and the 4 day Inca Trail walk.
I booked through Trailfinders and traveled with GAP travel on the Peru side.  Teamed up with a great group from all over europe.  A holiday I will never forget.

2/ Rocky Mountains America and Canada.  I would love to go back to the Rockies to Mountain bike.  When I was there last I was too young to appreciate it.

Closely followed by an Everest base trek or if the oppertunity came up an attempt to climb it.

1/ Scotland (Lochgoilhead Activity Centre) - A centre packed with adventure, top trained staff and view to die for. I was there last year and enjoyed every second of it. Canoeing, Abseiling, Rockclimbing, Sailing, Burn Run, Mountian Biking, Highropes, Orienteering and much much more. Couldnt rate it high enough, I had so much fun doing everything. Small picture below:

2/ Too many to name - Dream destination would be everywhere. To see it all and do everything, couldnt ask for much more.

Too many in either category to pick. Trips are all different but equally brilliant.
Guess I'm lucky in that regard  ;D

haven't done many holidays abroad (2 to be precise) and only 1 was an activity holiday, so

1. skiing in Andorra (Arinsal), loved it, great spot and a lot cheaper than many other resorts

2. i've always had an eye on the grand canyon, but i think i'd like to do it by helicopter to see it all
