Gelert mongoose set-up
« on: February 01, 2012 »

Well had another go at setting up the Gilert mongoose this morning."too much time on my hand's" i know but there's nothing worse than setting up in the mountain's with you're new tent & finding out you've problems.Got the Mongoose from the Scout shop, Belfast now,'Discover outdoors' as i thought the ' Solo' was a wee bit small for such a big strapping lad like me! ::).I was planning on setting it on Hen mountain but had to change plan's,back garden it was then. There no real instructions with this tent so it was a case of trial & error, pitch time was 18 minutes which i was happy enough with for the first time ;D.The inner tent itself has only four fixing point to the ground that are shared by the poles, this means that getting each one of the outer fly sheets guide just right is a wee bit fiddlely, still think it will take me at least a few more practice go's,comes with 32 steel pegs of which i used 16,so maybe i was missing something ::)Packing away took 9  minutes  & it's very east fitted back into it's bag.The space inside was very surprising as it would easy fit two weekend hikers & all there gear.As with all new tents i sealed the waterproofing on the day of purchase by hosing down the fly-sheet outside then allowed it to room-dry

The doors on each side of the tent are also a good feature, nothing worse that getting woke by someone falling over you getting back into the tent ;D

Cool tent. Very like the Coleman Cobra layout which I like a lot.

Every tent needs a garden pitch to practice  ;D

I was well impressed with Amazon.. contacted the supplier on Monday to advise that my poles had snapped and I received them today FOC with extra pegs!
Here's hoping I have better luck the next time when I use the solo.
