Inflating matt/pillow users

Just wondering from folk who use either infating mats or pillows how good they are? Compared to an MOD roll matt and a jacket rolled up what sort of difference will be noticed?

Finally decided last night that perhaps i'm almost old enough to not have to completley "rough it" anymore.

i've tried a few mats, i can't stand the closed cell rollups, next up i have an ultralight karrimor 3/4 length, ok for mountain marathons but thats all, next is the campri full length self-inflatable, about 2.5cm thick, bit narrow but fits well into bivvy bags, not too heavy at 1kg and cheap at £12 i think,  finally theres my long wide and 5cm thick halfords self-inflatable, at 2kg its for car camping only now (but it has been on all 7 summits!), but the more i camp i find i can cope with a thinner mattress, next year i reckon i'll be using the map  ;D

my pillow is a blowup pound shop special, i inflate it half way and wrap a tshirt round it, fairly comfy, i find a good pillow makes for a much better sleep, theres a few self-inflating fleece pillows out there but they are just too small for me.

Always used an old style roll up mat until recently when I bought a self -inflating one at millets,was £36 reduced to £12,must say they are very good & only takes up half the room of the standard roll up,may still be in the sales

A use a Pacific Outdoor SIM and usually have a great nights sleep on it, often sleeping in!  I think it cost about £38 in a sale.  I think it is about 3.5cm thick and is full length.  At about 800g it isn't bad but there are lighter (usually more expensive) options.

I don't use a SI Pillow but rather this one .  In it's stuff sac it is only slightly larger than a tin of beans.

Rumblebum has  this SI one but they haven't had a good relationship so far.  I think he's dumping it for a jacket in a stuff sac.

It hates me! All ive ever done is show it love and what does it give me back, cramp in my ear! I hate that pillow lol ;D

I have an Exped Synmat 7 UL and it's pretty blummin good, is like sleeping on a lilo. Tried lots of different mats but this was the only one that felt comfy. For a pillow, Tesco inflatable pillow - can't beat it!

Depends. If I'm in a forest, thick grass or heathery ground a roll mat is fine; but stony or compact ground like summits, stones, or continental campsites, my neo-air comes into play. I'm a side sleeper, so if the ground doesn't have lumps, my mat needs to.

Started using a poundland pillow last year as any spare dry clothing I carry tends to be worn at night. It has definitely become a must-have item: can't believe the difference it makes.

I can second the old poundland inflatable pillow. Not sure if they sell them all year round, only noticed them during summer(traditional camping season)

Mine hasn't burst as of yet, but its a possibility.

I'm currently using a camping pillow, just in a stuff sack.

They have some internal connection to give it shape. Mine has come away so it inflates more like a ballon now... but I have been sitting on it to be fair! Got about 18months use, maybe 30 nights. Will not sit on the replacement.
