How did you spend your extra hour?
« on: October 30, 2011 »

Well did you use it as an opportunity for an extra hours kip?  An extra hour out partying?  Or did you peeve someone else off phoning them too early having forgot about the time change?

I decided about 11pm last night that the hour gave me a chance to take a quick scoot out first thing in the morning for a walk up the hills.  I threw some gear together and planned to go to bed at a sensible time and set the alarm for 6am (7am in old time).  I hadn't realised though that my wife had already changed the clock in the lounge meaning I went to bed an hour later than I planned, something I remembered when the alarm went off!

Wasn't expecting it to be completely pitch black when I was heading out in the morning and was a little concerned that my plans would be somewhat curtailed due to not bringing my head torch.  Luckily there was sufficient light by the time I got walking.

I decided it had to be somewhere closer to home and opted for heading into the Glens of Antrim and had a go at Tievebulliagh which looks down on Cushendall.  All the >500m hills were covered in cloud but Tievebulliagh itself was mostly clear.  It was a nice feeling starting the day with a brisk walk in the fresh air and the hill itself offered a steep section that proved to be a good albeit short workout.

A couple of pics follow.

Tievebulliagh from Aghan

The river looked ok to cross but the rocks were deadly slippy

The hill has a savage incline on it’s Eastern flank.

A decent wee spot to wake up on a bright sunny morning?

My boys don't understand the aspect of a hour early in bed so we headed for a walk over to murder hole melmore head Donegal , the best beach in the whole world in my opinion . We had an awesome surf hitting the beach so quick run back for wetsuits and skimboards .  :D

I was asleep and had forgotten to put my clocks back so it was a moot point really for me!
