i downloaded the quo program yesterday but it won't run for me, says application error

What does the error say? I had a few problems with Quo and it turned out that i didn't have Microsofts .NET framework installed as Quo needs this to run.

that seems to have worked, now downloading maps, think i'll leave it be and hit the sack now ....

You might want to run Windows Update. The .net framework probably should have already been on, you might me missing a few other updates.
