Just New
« on: September 12, 2011 »

Hi All,
Just getting back into the outdoors scene after a twenty odd year break, I am based in Belfast and limited to public transport and legs for getting about. My gear is pretty basic at the moment but served me well for a 3 day camp in the Mournes in July. (The camping bug has bit again). I am really tempted to join you on the Chimney Rock camp this weekend but have a commitment on sunday that i may have to keep, but you never know.. Anyway, Looking forward to meeting up with you all in time, sharing a beer or two and learning new skills.

Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, the grass will be slowing down soon.  Less gardening = more camping!

Welcome Paul

Good to hear the camping bug has kicked in again.  Don't be worrying about the limited gear.  I joined up about two years ago with next to nothing and now I'm fully equipped.  My advice is don't be shy and use the forum to ask as many questions as you want about gear before buying.  Do your research and you will hopefully get the right stuff that you need first time round.

Hope to see you in the hills soon.
