Last Minute Info

Some last minute info from flipmeb who is at the campsite and has spoken to Frank.  For those who were there at Easter we are in the same field - after coming through the gate off the main road go up the hill and turn right, through another gate which takes you into the campsite.  We are using the first field on your right.  There is a padlock on the gate, but it isn't locked.  When you come through the gate please close it after you so we can have the area to ourselves.  Frank has also asked we stayed off the longer grass.

Should be a blast, pack sun cream ;)

I got home at about 3:45 after a well needed stop at McD's  ;D

The drive from Newcastle to Carryduff was just a blur  :o

Thanks for a good couple of days, it was a lot of fun.

Now for the nasty bit; clearing all the crap out of the car whilst burnt to a crisp  :-\ [note to self, bring sun cream and a hat  ::)]

Excellent night though  :)

I was 'answering the call of nature' at around the time and yes there was some serious snoring coming from somewhere. The donkey was getting some competition last night  :D So glad I brought earplugs ;D

Thanks for posting the pics Liam.  Just made me feel even worse for not being able to make it. :(  Looks like everyone had a good time.  I really enjoyed the Easter Brandy & BBQ stay there.  It's a good option between wild camping and the likes of Tollymore.  I'll be using there again as soon as I can.

What a weekend guys, that was really mental. Great craic round the fire as usual but Sunday was a bit special. We wandered up the Bloody Bridge River to the pools for some swimming, then we made our way back to sea level down the river rather than the path. It was really epic, best fun I've had in ages although next time I'd like to do it sans hangover :) Lenny has pics, hopefully he'll get them online soon!

Thanks to Shamara, Kevin and Sonya for gear, help, expertise and some gentle encouragement to get from a height!!

Great to meet the new faces, hope we'll see you all again soon.

Top weekend everyone, was great meeting up with some well known faces and some new faces!  Bloody Bridge camp site was fantastic again and finally we got good enough weather to break out the shorts and t-shirts :)  Kudos to everyone who took part in the bouldering, it looked awesome and I can't wait to give it a go next time.  Oh, and well done to Lenny who did a smashing job with the badges.  They look great!

Wow what a weekend, the banter was mighty along with the vast quantities of drink consumed, I really was paying the price yesterday. So sore after the bouldering and burnt to a crisp but it really was great fun.

Until the next time!

Here's some of my piccies ;D

Wasn't sure if peeps are comfortable with their picture online so I've held back on the group shots but can PM them.

These pics our from our walk to Blue Lough and the search for the Percy Bysshe Cove Cave. We thought we found it and climbed up and in. Later we decided it wasn't it but after some further reading here I think we did ;D

Also managed to knock off a couple of geocaches on the way; one at Blue Lough and one just before Annalong Wood in one of the craters :)

Our cave; we think.

The NI Wild guard dog  ;D  'Get orf moi land!!' woof

Forgot my camera for the first half the water fun. Just as we were a leaving a small tribe of teenagers were making their way upstream.

All in all a very good couple of days apart from being burnt like idiot  ::)  My car was packed for every eventuality but not a drop of suncream or shorts for me  :-\  The worst part is we have been building a stock of suncream for our holiday Doh!!

Hopefully I'll be able to streamline after this trip and get ready for next one.

Hope to see you again on Bushcraft Sunday, hopefully the weather will stay good ;D

That is what is commonly referred to as Cove Cave, at Lower Cove on the map.  It featured on the BBC's Off the Beaten Track programme.  Percy Bysshe is a different cave altogether.

Did you climb up through the cave and out the other side?
