North West Mountain Rescue Walking Festival

28th - 29th May 2011

The NWMRT are pleased to introduce, in association with the National Trust, the first North West Mountain Rescue Walking Festival.

Over the weekend of 28th - 29th May 2011 the NWMRT have organised three walks to explore the Belfast Hills.  These walks cover a wide range of abilities, from those who wish to camp overnight, to a family walk suitable for all.  This walking festival is a chance for you to explore the Belfast hills in the company of the NWMRT and to raise money for your local Mountain Rescue team.

2 day walk
Quote
The Cavehill Challenge will start from Cavehill and follow a route over the Belfast Hills to the Divis National Trust Centre, where you will camp and relax.  The following day, returning to Cavehill by an alternate route.  Your overnight equipment will be moved by van to the campsite, allowing you to walk with only a day pack and enjoy a barbecue at the campsite without aching shoulders.

the 4hr / 4 peak walk

The Belfast 4 Peaks follows the 4 peaks that surround our city.  On Saturday the 28th a single days walk at a relaxed pace takes you over Armstrongs Hill, Divis Mountain, Black Mountain & Black Hill, returning you to the Divis National Trust centre.

the family walk

The Divis Family Walk is a gentle stroll on Sunday the 29th of May.  Suitable for all the family, this walk goes over Armstongs Hill and Divis Mountain and should be finished by 2pm.
