bargain popup tent from decathlon?
« on: January 27, 2011 »

oh noooo, i went to decathlon today for the first time and ended up buying yet another tent ! (thats 9 now)

well its more of a popup living room than a tent  ;D and only £25 (reduced from £80)

here's a pic of it (but it doesn't have the wee extra room on it)

http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/base-seconds-4-1-117139074/

you can buy an inner "bedroom" tent and ground sheet for about £35 extra but i'm planning just to this as a eating area when out with the family, going to be fun trying to fold it up though  :'(

note: they also have sledges (with brakes) at £15, mini spade sledges for £2, and folding shovels for only £6  ;)

and lots and lots of lovely canoes  :-*

I have one, only I paid the other reduced price which was £54.. oh dear. Which one did  you get, green or grey? Anyway I use mine as a kitchen tent alongside my main family tent. I have also used it with the inner (which has it's own integrated groundsheet so you don't need a separate one) when I went camping on my own without the kids. I also used it on the beach, it made a great changing room and shelter when the weather turned.

Because the sides are so upright, it does become a problem in strong wind. I would recommend you get Delta Pegs for it because the stronger the pull the tighter the grip the pegs have, whereas others will just pull straight out of the ground and then the whole thing takes off. I've rescued it on three occasions. Granted, it was pretty stormy. The tent will buckle in the wind but just bounces back up, so it will never break.

I'm really pleased with mine, every time I use it I get someone come up to me to ask me about it. They're being discontinued now so even though I paid more than you I feel lucky to have got it at all.

If you get another one, they dock together and some people use them as a family tent, one for sleeping in and one for a porch.

You put it up indoors! I'd been studying the videos for two years as I always fancied one and was even planning my holiday touring around England last summer via a Decathlon. Then when a Decathlon opened here I nearly wet myself with excitement!
