used to use it in the hotel I worked in to keep bain-maries warm. no weight really but i don't think you'd break any boil time records with it.

I've seen them in a coupla formats before. Also known as EcoFuel, Flamable Gel and various formats.

Clean burn, and odour free. Reasonable heat, can boil a half litre of water in 5 - 7 mins.

Some are marketed now with the can made to fit inside the Trangia Burner.

Where I find them really useful is in starting the campfire, just smear some over the kindling and leave it to do its work.

Next time, I'm gonna be trying out the BBQ Gel. They seem to be available in some of the "Pound" stores - but at £1/litre. So a big savings in costs for a start.
(And before anyone starts getting pedantic about the extra grams I'll be carrying i'm gonna decant the Gel into smaller bottles...... :P)

All in all, the Gel is very handy to have. You pays your money - you takes your choice.
