looking forward to winter!!
« on: October 29, 2010 »

Due to outdoor gear pressies for xmas and new year resolutions I always seem to get more hiking fitted in in the winter months.
Looking fwd to hopefully lots of dry cold days in the Mournes this year.
Heres a few snaps of the past few years. (6 in total)
Hope the link works (I'm new to all this malarky)

I'm with you on that!  I work with a fella who was telling me he is packing away his outdoor gear for the winter, but truth be told I probably get out more over the winter months!  Best time of year as the hills aren't as busy and I often find the cold weather brings drier weather rather than our warm, wet summers.  Fingers crossed for some snowy bivvy's :)

I'd def be up for a snow bivvy.  Haven't bivvied since I was a scout (nasty orange survival bag!) and have a hunka bivvy and DD tarp in the post!

Love the photos, the couple on top of Binnian (?), just above the cloud are crackin'.

Me too. I love being up in the forest during/after a snowfall.

There's a certain silence and peaceful quietness that you don't get at any other time.

Agreed, I should have mentioned that there are some nice photos there!  Love the ones looking down on the cloud from Binnian... I bet those Tors were right and slippy though ;)
