Anyone found that Tiso sales team are getting a bit too enthusiastic the last while?

Mrs Chuck was grumbling at me last night that she was in looking at sleeping bags, mats etc (finally got her in the notion to camp out)..but she got scared away by one very 'excitable' gent (pony tail?) on the bottom floor and again by another gent on the 2nd floor. In both cases they were very friendly and very keen to give advice but just too overpowering, she ended up telling one that she was looking for Xmas presents just to try to give her some space to look about. In the end she walked out and went 'round to Cotswolds, in contrast no one approached her at all...they were all at the till cashing up (it was about 5.20). Perhaps there is no pleasing her?

If any Tiso team are watching: ye are jeopardizing my chances of getting her into the mountain overnight before the summer runs out, so if you see a tall dark haired lady looking at sleeping bags, give her a bit of space (and 10% discount

Tiso have always seemed really keen to get the big sale, maybe they are under a bit of pressure from the boss!!

Jacksons is nearly the opposite, i sometimes dont like to go in, they can come across as very elitist

Never had an issue with Tiso, but I've practically stopped going to Jacksons. I always feel awkward when I have to disturb the staff chatting with their mates.

Went into the new cotswold for the first time on Friday. Staff on the ground floor smiled and said hello at just the right time, then I went upstairs and after a bit of browsing Sabine(?) struck up a conversation. Apparently he came to Bangor a couple of years ago from Nepal where he used to be a high altitude guide.
Friendly staff, but nobody pushing for a sale.
Guess which shop I'll be making a beeline for the next time I need yet another tent/pot/stove/sleepingbag... ?

I've always found the Scout Shop to be very very helpful.

A coupla years ago I needed to buy a new sleeeping bag - on account that I had now become "rounder" than my old sleeping bag was. I did some research and found that Vango made one that was extra-wide and called it the Vango 300XL.

I shopped around the town at all the usual haunts and was quoted around £40-£45 for the item.

I went to the Scout Shop and they quoted me £30. I asked them to double check that they were looking at the right item in the catalogue to confirm their prices and indeed they were. I ordered 3 there and then for myself, SWMBO, and a friend.

When I asked about the price difference with other stores they told me that they are a charity and all the profits go back into the Scouting movement and it allows them to sell items a good bit cheaper than other stores.

Trust me guys....I have found service and pricing from the Scout Shop hard to beat.

Seems strange. As far as I know Tiso don't have their staff on targets so I can't think why they would be so full on.

Perhaps they were just genuinely interested and friendly, it can happen! Not sales assistant is trying to make a massive sale half the time I'm just bored and want a chat for 10-15mins.
