I'm looking for an old dome tent, any condition, that I can salvage parts off.  I'm hoping to create a small cover/tent out of Army Issue Gore-tex with an opening at the front that will provide head and shoulder protection when bivviing.

I need a tent with fibreglass poles to form a arch approx 1.4m wide x 0.6m high, and I would like one that has the heavy canvas type straps in each corner with metal eyelets that hold the poles in place, like the tent in the picture attached.

I know you can buy these tents for very little money but I wouldn't feel right buying one then cutting it up.

There must be loads of these lying in peoples sheds waiting to be reborn.

If you have anything like this please let me know.

Thanks

Have you talked to Chuck?

I did.  Chuck kindly donated a near complete tent to Bivvi Research.  Only collected it this morning so I haven't had a chance to look at it properly, but at first glance it seems to have lots of salvagable parts.

Thanks

Would be interested to see how your bivi turns out, can you post pictures of it when it's all done?

Glad it is of use, just glad to get a bit of floor space back in my garage without adding to a land fill somewhere :)

(ps if you are ever after more, have a word with the folks at Meelmore Lodge/Bloody Bridge Camp site. After a particularly wet/windy weekend they always have a couple of tents that get abandoned when the management are not looking)
