Poundland gear.
« on: May 24, 2010 »

Guys, I was browsing Poundland in Ann St. today and noticed some select but useful outdoors gear - all for £1!

Stainless Steel folding trowel - solid enough mechanism, bit heavy.
Folding map cases - very deluxe.  2/3 for map, with divider behind for other maps, 1/3 had pockets for other tickets and admin gubbins.  Removable strap on it too.

500ml Sigg type bottles - look identical (and I just bought a 660ml Sigg in work - still cost me over a tenner with me discount!)

1.8m bungee cord with micro 'biners on the ends.

Probably a few other bits that may appeal - tent poles, pegs etc.

I got one of those wee shovels in the store in Ards. After usigng it once I decided to weld the handle open all the time, its quits sore if you trap a finger.

Went to Poundland last night. See what you mean about the shovel....the harder you dig...the tighter you have to grip the handle...the more likely it is to fold up on you. Got one any how (along with a couple of the bungee cords and some zip lock bags to keep smaller kit dry and easily found)

TK Maxx has a good range of Trekmates gear in at the moment.  Decent gaiters, a hammock, walking poles at £12 pair, wind shirt etc.  I've seen a fair bit of it in Tiso and its genuinely half price in TK Maxx.  Worth a look :)
