Well I ended up going for Salomons... but chickened out and went for boots!

Twice the weight of trail shoes, and about twice the price as well... but the marketing blurb does say they are based on trail running technology :)  When push came to shove my heart said trail shoes but my head kept saying boots.  I think the wet feet thing still puts me off even though I know its a bit of a non-argument.  And I hate wearing gaiters :)  Still, will most likely get the Inov-8 Roclites at some stage because they were the only pair I really liked the feel off on my feet.  Will be nice to have the choice of both boots and shoes!

I got a set of Sorbothane insoles at the weekend for my Scarpas. Will give them a run out at the weekend and see if they help!

I just bought a pair of Salomon Speed Cross 2 from Cotswolds. Haven't had a chance to try them yet and can't find Goretex socks anywhere. Also can't be sure if my gaiters are going to fit them or not.

have a look

I'm def a convert now to the trail shoe. I was slightly wary after mine and 666_packs trip up rocky mountain through some stinkin bog and BLUE grass. But they held up well through the snow and the scramble up the Devils Coachroad. 8)
