For someone who had no training sevens weeks isn't bad going.
If you die with all your parts working your not trying hard enough!

As far as I've read he had been to the top of Everest and across the Arctic so he was no outdoor slouch. I think the problem was that he had no specific bushcraft training to teach him  to live off the land when times were hard. Naturally the Daily Fail are painting it as a travesty but I think if the guy had some experience and wanted to try it then more power to him. He could be located automatically by GPS and he had a satphone plus loads of outdoors experience - sounds like he was up to it to me. I think he should do a week with Ray Mears, then try again!

i agree he needs some training for food sources. But it sound s like the trip of a lifetime ;D

almost the last trip off his lifetime. Seems that when he was rescued he was halucinating(spelling) due to starvation.
(or his mushroom id was off/spot on (deleat as necessary)

Lets be honest something like that you can not take lightley, i for one would have to be 100% ready and more.
It does not sound like he done his homework as somewhere with that much wilderness, should have more than enough
food for someone who knows bushcraft. But im no pro  :-\
The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences.
