Bringing in the New Year
« on: December 27, 2012 »

Is anyone planning anything special to bring in the New Year? (other than going to the pub and getting sloshed  8) )  I'm tempted to go up Donard, maybe even camp over (haven't checked the forecast though), or what about these New Year swims that seem to be happening, any down Newcastle way?

Not sure yet, would rather not waste money and time queuing for drinks in a bar. I'm open to suggestions..

Alas, I'm required at home :( Can't say Jools Holland seems a better idea than a night in the hills.

What a great wee day out, tried the black stairs for the first time, not sure we went the correct route (we stayed to the right and went up sort of diagonally)

but the strong wind was in our face which made the going tough so we decided to abandon the summit attempt and head round to millstone mountain for some caving and caching  :)

John made a wee video

Interesting wee cave with some smuggling history.

Then we went to O'Hares for a swift half while we waited for Spud to return from his romantic stroll along the Brandy pad.

Those caves look a bit claustrophobic!
