  • Love the mournes and a bit of fresh country air.

Looking to buy a light gas stove.....don't really know if the more expensive ones will be worth it.  Planning a bit of wild camping and don't want anything too clumpy either.
What price and any make better??

Vango compact stove for £15, less than a tenner if you shop around. Job done ;)

Yeah Jonnos pointed you in the right direction there, I have the pocket rocket that £30 but they both do the same job really. Good for booing water etc but I'm not sure if they can cope with a steak or casserole, a trangia would be the better job for that.

For a tip top stove the Primus Express Spider is the business.

Cheers just got this on eBay. 14notes.
Gonna be mainly water heating, so it'll do the job and at the prices steal.

Cheers

I have one of those wee vango mini beasties. It's great but do get a windshield for it, Mourneman and I once used the vango mini on binnian to heat a curry in the wind. 45 mins later he, LandyLiam and I were finally able to eat.

I now use a primus omnifuel. It's a sturdy beast, itll take knocks, itll sit out in the rain, itll run off unleaded petrol at 45p for a full fuel bottle - and it won't complain. It also fries up a mean steak in record time.

The biggest benefit of the mini though is weight - it is so light! also at almost every camp, someone has a can of gas.
