Olympic Torch Relay
« on: June 02, 2012 »

Any 1 planning to go out and see the torch this weekend??? Its passing down close to my house so would kinda be a sin not to go and take a look. Seen them painting and cutting the grass all along the route, wouldnt want some shabby looking places on the telly lol

Get out and support it....U'll never see it again over here!!!!

Well i managed to miss the torch at Clough by about 10 mins (had to iron a shirt, it was very creased!) but i'm now hoping to take part in "The Real Relay"  http://www.endurancelife.com/realrelay/ this Wednesday, 6am start for my leg  :(

Quote
The Endurancelife Real Relay is an exciting attempt to follow the entire route of the official Olympic Torch around the British Isles in one continuous non-stop journey, running every step of the way.  Starting out from Land’s End at midnight on Monday 28 May, ten days behind the official Olympic Torch, the Real Relay will involve hundreds of runners from across the British Isles running through the day and night on an 8000 mile mission to reach London in time for the Olympic Games opening ceremony. We’re calling on runners from all over the British Isles to join the relay by signing up to run one or more of the stages (below) and help achieve one of the greatest Olympic endeavours of all time.

I ironed my shirt the night before and got myself down to see the torch on time.  Not content with just looking at it I got myself in on the action.  I've also arranged for the torch bearer to visit Banbridge Academy with her torch to open their sports day and get me Brownie points with my girlfriend who teaches there ;)

We got a lend of one last night from a local runner, we showed it to the beavers at our scout troop. They loved it, I was pretty impressed too.

did my mile of "the real relay" this morning at 7am, chuffed to have been a part of it (someone even took it up donard about 4am  :o )  not sure if anyone got a pic of me with the baton though (looks like a lightsaber  :D )

my Murlough AC teammates, i was in the car behind them at this point, it was a dangerous road so a safety vehicle was essential, nothing to do with the fact i can't run 10 miles  ::)
