Plans for Autumn 2011
« on: August 30, 2011 »

So what's everyone got planned for Autumn this year? It's actually the time of year that I would usually be out most as the weather is still pretty decent but with the schools back there's not so much keeping me at home over the weekends.

Here's my list:
* I didn't get anywhere near as many summit camps done over the summer as I'd have liked and there still plenty of peaks I've not bivvied on..
* Some day walking exploring in the Mournes
* Some walking done outside the Mournes

1) going to the Cairngorms Mountains on the 17th September.
2) Either put in solid plans to do Hadrians wall or TGO challenge next year.
3) do some outdoor climbing before winter.
4) do a Bicycle camp.

I've neglected to make them most of our so called summer too so I'll be having a crack at the following before winter sets in:

:)  Mount Errigal in Donegal via the Glover Highlander
:)  Camp on an Island in Strangford Lough (There's a couple I know that can be reached on foot at low tide)
:)  Motorbike Camp in Scotland or Ireland
:)  Forest Camp for a bit of Bush Craft and try out my new Hammock
:)  Stealth Bivvi on Gibbs Island

These are top on my wish list before winter but if anybody posts any better ideas in this thread I might pinch one of theirs  ::)

I would be up for the island camping sounds fun, Gibbs island is a great wee spot too ideal for a stealth one!

I've been camping a lot less than I had planned this summer, so through Autumn I'm hoping to get in as many summit camps and forest/bushcraft type camping trips in as I can. Also hoping to push my climbing grade up to a steady VS before winter, and get plenty more climbing in at both the Mournes and Fairhead.

Some outdoor climbing before winter. My sundays are probably free now so hoping to get out then. Did loads of scrambling in Corsica (or easy free-soloing) so just need to add a bit of pro into the mix and be more adventurous.
