Fair Head an Murlough Sunday July 3rd
« on: June 27, 2011 »

A chum has requested a "go" at the Fair Head Murlough dander I did 3 weekends ago
so I am taking him over a similar route on Sunday 3rd July
If the weather permits (ie it is not wet, we will attempt a descent of the Gray Man's Path and
pick ourway through the boulder field to Murlough. If at all slippy, it will be over the cliffs to the
murlough road, the walk is approx 11 miles and will either be 6-7 hours if we do the boulder field
or 4-5 hours if we do the over the cliffs route.
Here is the route http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=D06530F4-98F7-A2CB-FB191DB9D35ED564&success=1 and the meet up time will be 9:30 on Ballycastle Prom.
Decent boots a MUST HAVE for this walk, although the way back is mostly on tarmac, the cliff section
is definitly boot territory - everyone welcome :)

Shame this is Sunday. I'd love to have come but we're all at Bloody Bridge camping on Saturday night.

Pics (and a couple of shaky cam videos)

Great day's walking. Hairy enough at times. Never thought anyone would get me climbing the Grey Man's. :)

Broken (again). G'nite.

Cheers for sharing.  I think those are the only photos I have ever seen of the Grey Man's path that haven't been dull and dreary.  A glorious day all round.

Am I reading that right?  You did over 1000 metres of ascent/descent?  That's fair bit, you could do a fair days walking in the Mournes and just about do that.

What a great day to be doing Fair Head. I'm suprised at the ascent, I didn't realise it was anywhere near 1k meters. Nice one guys.
